Jordan 5 Retro

A series of bright watery tones highlights this sleek Jordan 5 Retro, earning it the nickname Aqua and giving it an eye-catching look. A shade of turquoise covers the heel and forefoot of the outsole either side of a solid black section marked with Jordan branding. Two raised pads bring reliable grip to this last part, while the blue areas are filled with herringbone lines, for extra traction, and made of translucent rubber. This reveals a Jumpman beneath the forefoot, just behind the black toe cap. The midsole is made up of two black layers, the bottom one displaying Air cushioning in the heel through a window on each side. Another pocket of encapsulated Air fills out the forefoot, delivering the wearer supreme comfort on top of the traction provided by the outsole. Meanwhile, spiky sections of Taxi yellow splashed with pale blue specks appear on each side of the midsole just behind the forefoot, lending it a dynamic aesthetic.

The upper is formed from curvaceous panels of stylish black nubuck, both on its base layer and its overlays, with the former visible across the forefoot and around the high-cut collar, which has mismatched foam pods bulging out over each ankle for added protection. The shoe’s overlays are all slanted forwards, beginning with the mudguard that wraps around the toe, before moving through the quarter panel and finishing at the wavy edged heel counter. Translucent white side vents have been cut into the quarter on each side to help aerate the foot, and black pieces of TPU are pressed up against its upper edge. These have eyelets punched into them, as does the additional one on the front of the collar, all of them accommodating the black laces, which are secured at the top by an Aquatone toggle.

More breathable mesh can be seen behind the laces ahead of the top half of the puffy tongue, whose frontside is coated in a silver reflective material and embroidered with an Aquatone Jumpman. Its underside comes blanketed in this vivid shade of blue with a black patch in the center hosting Taxi-colored Air Jordan text. Below the soft black inner lining, the insole is also Aquatone, and a Taxi Jumpman has been printed upon it. Back on the outer, a final embroidered Jumpman has been sewn into the center of the heel counter in a concluding dash of Aquatone.
